Evaluation finale du programme Approche communale pour le marché agricole (ACMA – Bénin)

Le programme « Approche Communale pour le Marché Agricole au Bénin » - ACMA financé par l’Ambassade des pays Bas pour un budget global de près de dix millions d’euros est mis en œuvre par un consortium composé de cinq institutions - International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC – Chef de file), l’Institut Royal des Tropiques (KIT), CARE International, Sahel Capital Partners & Advisory Ltd, et Benin Consulting Group International (BeCG). La durée révisée, est de 50 mois (novembre 2013 - 31 décembre 2017). Il est développé dans trois départements frontaliers du Nigéria à fort potentiel agricole – l’Ouémé, le Plateau et le Zou soit 22 communes (hors Porto Novo) à travers sept chaines de valeurs (CV) initialement : Huile de palme, maïs, gari, piment et poisson, puis : arachide et soja. L’objectif global du programme ACMA est « l’amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et l’accroissement des revenus agricoles des acteurs directs ». Programm Approche Communale Pour La Marche Agricole (ACMA) Rapport d’évaluation à mi-parcours

Le programme « Approche Communale pour le Marché Agricole au Bénin » (ACMA) est mis en œuvre par un consortium composé de l’International Fertilizer Development Center, l’Institut Royal des Tropiques, CARE International, Sahel Capital Partners & Advisory Ltd, et Benin Consulting Group International. Le programme est financé par l’Ambassade des pays Bas et le consortium est dirigé par l’IFDC. Il est prévu pour une durée de 4 ans à partir de Novembre 2013. Il intervient dans trois départements, l’Ouémé, le Plateau et le Zou qui comptent 22 communes.

L’approche communale est un élément central dans la stratégie d’intervention pour le développement des marchés des produits agricoles. Elle prend en compte une dynamique multi-acteurs dans laquelle le dialogue secteur public-secteur privé joue un rôle privilégié. L’objectif principal du programme est « l’amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et l’accroissement des revenus agricoles des acteurs directs ».

Nutrition at the Center Baseline Benin/Togo

The baseline study for the initiative « Nutrition at the Centre » in its intervention area (Bonou, Dangbo) and in the monitoring areas (Athiémé, Grand-Popo), suggests that there are many innovative actions to be implemented by CARE Benin/Togo and by Benin Government with the support of technical and financial partners. The different strategies established will strengthen the households’ means of access to basic services (e.g. water, sanitation ), women empowerment and access to health care for mothers and children. Nutrition at the Center Endline Report Benin/Togo

CARE has implemented an innovative, comprehensive five-year program (2013 – 2017) that aims to reduce anemia in women (age 15-49 years) and stunting and anemia in children (age 0-24 months) by integrating: i) Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition and Health (MIYCNH); ii) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), iii) Food Security (FS), and iv) women’s empowerment. Nutrition at the Center (N@C) were implemented in 4 developing countries (Bangladesh, Benin, Ethiopia and Zambia). It aimed to develop, document and disseminate highly effective and efficient integrated approaches that substantially improve nutritional outcomes for mothers and children. The program’s objectives were: (i) improved nutrition-related behaviors, (ii) improved use of maternal and child health and nutrition services; (iii) increased household adoption of appropriate water and sanitation practices; and (iv) increased availability and equitable access to quality food. An additional P4P program has been experimented at household level in order to supply communities in animal protein source especially for children feeding.
In Benin, N@C has intervened in two communes of the Oueme department (Dangbo and Bonou) and in 32 villages. By engaging with communities, other partners, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Family and the Ministry of Agriculture, N@C will build upon this commitment to improve nutritional status. In 2014, INSAE and CARE International conducted the baseline study, which served as guidelines for actions to be taken up to 2017.

TEMPS – Travaillons ensemble contre les mariages précoces

L’« Initiative conjointe de prévention et d’atténuation des effets du mariage précoce forcé dans les zones à fortes prévalences au Bénin et au Mali » est conçue par CARE (CARE Mali, CARE Bénin/Togo et CARE Canada) pour une durée de deux ans et demi (27 Mars, 2015 au 30 septembre, 2017) et financée par les Affaires Mondiales Canada (AMC). Le montant total de cette initiative est de $1,299,142 CAD pour le Mali.
Connu sur le terrain comme « TEMPS – Travaillons ensemble contre les mariages précoces », elle intervient au Bénin et au Mali. Au Mali, l’initiative est mise en œuvre dans huit (8) communes des régions de Mopti et Tombouctou. [46 pages] Read More...

Adaptation Learning Programme (ALP) for Africa Narrative Report

This 103 page report for the Adaptation Learning Programme (ALP) covers an extension period from July 2015 to June 2017. The extension period was funded by UKAid at the Department for International Development and Denmark’s Fund for Climate and Environment for NGOs managed by Civil Society in Development, as well as funds from the Australian Development Agency. The original ALP goal was maintained in the extension period: ‘to increase the capacity of vulnerable households in sub-Saharan Africa to adapt to climate variability and change,’ while the purpose was slightly modified: ‘Community-based adaptation (CBA) approached for vulnerable communities incorporated into development policies and programmes in Ghana, Kenya, and Niger, and replication ongoing in other countries in Africa.’ Read More...
